one of the worlds first timber prefab buildings, that ushered in a new era in sustainable construction

the story:

in autumn 2016 primus developments entrusted dv8 with the task to create part of the interior of the first student housing in project realized in 330 prefabricated timber units, under realization in hamburg.

the three concrete staircase and base construction – for fire code reasons – featured areas of common use for the students. dv8 developed a timber only woodietorium, a mixed used ares for common use by the students, located in the buildings ground floor.

the woodie student home is the worlds first student home built in prefab timber units and marks the beginning of a new era in sustainable construction and for us is another project with kaufmann bausysteme (see conrad) that has since found wide acclaim and interest as an alternative to steel and concrete based construction.
